CHRISTMAS CARD 2008

Yes, I am completely lazy about blogging, and Christmas card sending! This is the email card I've created for this year. I wanted the kids to go stand outside and pose cute for the camera, but they are all going in a hundred different directions and I can't pin them down. School pictures will have to do.
People, mark this on your calendar - Kassie DID post on 12/23/08!!!!

Hello, I am Kassie and I am Beyond Pathetic...

I have decided that it is time to take matters into my own hands. This blog is pathetic and it needs serious intervention. By the way this is Lynnzie. So what has been going on since May 30th (the day we posted our most recent post) ? Well basically everything.

Dad just got home from Germany earlier in October. Grandpa Keith was also with him. They went over there to support some anti-terrorist training and just to goof off. I would post pictures but most of the pictures dad took were kind of lame, like pictures he took of himself golfing where he put it on his golf bag and used the timer... the down side? He didnt usually make it into the actual picture.

Lets see, what else has been going on? Oh my mother has just turned 32! I would but a "funny" comment here but I dont want to be killed.

Well to tell you guys the truth I dont want to write much else. You see, my life is much more exciting and you can read all about it on my blog. I only write on here so my family doesnt look quite so pathetic.... So there you have it, the shortest and lamest post ever!

Boredom

Seriously there is nothing going on in my life, hence the lack of posts. This weekend we are going down to Monroe for Calvin's baby blessing but that is about it.

Oh wait there is one bit of exciting news! Mom got a 4.0 this quarter and made the presidents list! Do you want to know the key to her success? It was me, her genius daughter, my brilliance just radiates from me! Jk mom worked really hard and did a great job, I would post some of her art work on here but the school has kept most of it to display in their showcases. I might be able to get a few pics though.

Our quarter just ended, THANK GOODNESS that I only have 1 more quarter and I am done! Of course that just means I have a whole quarter of end of level testing, oh joy! My new school is OK, but it has been a big adjustment from Monroe where there were 300 kids in the whole school to my new school where there is 2000 kids and more coming. Some of the kids here are pretty....... interesting. Rainbow hair is normal and brown hair is not, lol I guess I am the weirdo! Right now I am just trying to get through the year, German class is driving me insane and there is no end in sight for that because apparently it would look great on my college applications if I had 3 years of a foreign language so I still have 2 more years of that. And algebra is killing me! I am still holding onto my 4.0 that I have had since the 6Th grade so hopefully I can keep that up!

Here are a few pictures of some boots that mom painted for her color theory class. Yes, that was a real assignment, to paint a pair of shoes. I wish my school was like that! They were supposed to paint them to look like something a famous artist would wear. Mom chose Grandma Moses. So here they are!

Now that I have bored you to tears with my talk about my pathetically boring life and school you can move on to more interesting blogs! And to all you Cottles, KEEP POSTING! It is nice to see what is going on with you guys!

Random Pictures

Since we have moved we have found boxes and boxes of old photos. Aren't digital cameras wonderful? Well Grammy told me to scan some of them so I thought I would post a few on here.

Shots

Mom is dragging me to the doctors office in like 10 minutes to get shots so I thought I should just tell you all goodbye now because I am pretty sure I am gonna die. This is child abuse I tell you! In other news, we took Roscoe (our cat) to the vet today. Apparently his teeth are bad so we bought him a tooth brush so dad could brush his teeth every night, it is a pathetic sight too see, almost as bad as when dad gives him a bath. Well I've got to go get those dreadful shots, I just hope I make it out alive!

Stuck At Home

Mom and dad got home at about 12 last night, they took a back road out of Camp Williams. And grandpa slept in his office in a bed made out of chairs. When I woke up this morning I went down stairs to see if my school was closed. The news said about 7 elementary schools were closed or starting late, but my school was open. So I went to get ready. When I was done I went down to check again and they said there would be no bus service so to make it there on our own cause school was still in session. But mom and dad rode home in the same car last night so we only had one car and mom had to be to school! My friend Shay called and said that her mom called the school and asked what was going on and they told her it was too dangerous for them to send the bus drivers out but that we still needed to be at school. So basically it was too dangerous for the bus drivers but we still needed to drive in the snow to get there. And the stupid part is that we have a snow day set apart for days like this and they WON'T use it! And it got worse, when Shay's mom said she was pulling Shay out of school the lady said they werent even taking attendance so we could stay home! So basically they arent really holding school just making people drive forever to sit in a class all day! SO STUPID! So I stayed home today and finished Kellie and Hagen's valentines and brought them over to their school.

Another Near Death Experience!

Well I really should be in bed but I doubt there will be any school tomarrow and mom and dad are not home. Where are my parents? They are stuck at Camp Williams for the night!
I got home from school just when the snow started and at about five mom called and said that she was stuck in a parking lot. She was stuck there for two hours and then she decided to try and make it home. Dad didnt even attempt to get out of Camp Williams and neither did grandpa, the traffic is a MESS! Mom finally made it to Camp but it took her two hours to get there from Draper. And it took grammy almost five hours to get home! Right now SR 73 is closed so there is no way in or out of Eagle Mountain! It isnt even snowing that hard, people just left their cars so now there is MAJOR traffic problems and the snow plows are out tonight! I doubt mom and dad will make it home. And grandpa has given up on the idea and is now asleep in him office at camp. Hopefully there will be a snowday tomarrow and everyone will finally get home! : )
P.S. Too bad you live in Texas Kristi..... you miss out on ALL the extreme weather!

President Hinckley's Viewing

Last night Mom, Kellie and I rode trax to the Delta Center to meet grammy. Before we went to Temple Square we went to a little candy shop cause mom had a 50$ gift certificate. Mom got some cherrys that were covered in some stuff, a pound and a half of fudge ( when you bought a pound you got half of one for free), some honey rosted almonds and some honey. Grammy got a half a pound of fudge for grandpa and some carmel turtles. We about ate ourselves sick by the time we found a parking spot! When we finally got to the conference center 2 lines were wrapped clear around it. By the time we found the end of the line it was 5:30. It took us about an hour just to get around the first corner then we stood in line for another hour before we got inside. It was freezing outside and all of us were wearing skirts. Mom was wearing her high heeled shoes and they were killing her feet. There were some kids playing over by the building on a big vent thing, and they quietly said that they could feel some heat coming up, instantly 40 people were over there. It really wasnt that warm but it felt good to pretend that I wasn't freezing to death. When we got inside and went through security they seated us and told us it would be at least two hours. I curled up on the ground in between the rows of seats( I had a long skirt on!) and fell asleep. In about an hour and a half we got in line again. That line went somewhat quick so we finally got through the line at about 9:45. It was a long night but I am glad that I went to it. I just feel bad that I never saw him while he was alive. It was worth the wait!

Lynnzie's Near Death Experience

During 3rd period today the blizzard started and when school let out it was worse than when it started! So they let us out like 10 minutes early to run out to our buses. When we got there we sat and waited for about 20 minutes and they told us that SR-73 was closed so we were stuck there and to go back to class if we wanted or stay there. Now what kind of dummy is gonna run back through the blizzard to go BACK to class? NOT ME! So I sat on the bus for an hour and then they told us all to get to class cause we might be there till 5 ! So I ran back in and when I got there they told me to go back out to the bus. Needless to say I was FROZEN! Finally after two hours the roads were open again and we could leave! But then it took an hour to get home cause the snowplows hadn't been out yet. It was a good thing today was early out day cause if not I might still be at school!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

On Christmas Eve Tracy, Rodney, and their boys came over for a party. We had a huge dinner and then sat down to watch 24 hours of a Christmas Story. While that was going on me and Kyler got bored so we went and made brownies for Santa. In the process we made a huge mess of the kitchen and the brownies didn't even turn out all that great, but we still had fun! After that we played Are you Smarter Than A 5Th Grader, and of course my team won. By the time that was all over it was 11 and all the little kids were excited to get to bed ( a first!) So the festivities ended and we all went to bed, but not before I turned the volume up all the way on my dad's cell phone and then placed it right next to his bed so I could text him at 5 the next morning to tell them to wake up.
The next morning I woke up at 5 and sent the text. In a few minutes I got one back telling me to go back to bed or else :) ! It took two hours for dad to get up. Then mom and dad went down stairs to take no less that 20000 pictures while the kids suffered! The major present I got was a video camera, Kellie got a digital camera and a mushroom chair for her bedroom, and Hagen got too much stuff to list! Dad got a motorcycle helmet and a tie rack. He wanted a 500$ hunting dog but I don't like dogs so I made him a pet rock that he loves :) ! Mom got a video camera too but of course dad made her open it last so she didn't get to record anything of Christmas morning. Then we just relaxed and let dad play with all the new toys : ) ! At around 2 Rod and Tracy came over again to eat all the left overs and play the longest Uno game EVER! Christmas this year was great! ( except we all missed grandma and grandpa!)
On Friday we headed down to Beaver to visit grandpa Jim. We brought Roscoe (our cat) and Grandpa was disgusted... "cats don't belong in a car ! ". We ate pizza with him then left for Monroe. In Monroe we saw all the cousins and visited the Cornelius family, who got sing star and guitar hero for Christmas. Mom and Melissa sang every 80's song they knew while dad and Vance played guitar hero for hours! It was fun! Then on Sunday we went to church with grandma and grandpa Leavitt. Grandpa got ordained an elder while we were there too and that was great! But on Sunday night we had to load up our cat and leave town :(
On New Years Eve mom and dad stayed up till about 11:45..... they just could stay awake another 15 minutes! I think everybody was in bed by 12:05!
So there you have it... the Leavitt family Christmas!
